Physio-Chi is taught in a relaxed fun atmosphere where unlike traditional forms of Tai Chi, the focus is not on perfecting the movements before moving onto new ones. Getting your right and left mixed up is perfectly OK!
Of special note: memory (useful with Alzheimer and dementia patients), as they relate to the imagery used rather than typical exercise instructions. Also aids coordination.
Of special note: social benefits of being in a group cannot be underestimated.
Enjoy a relaxed experience in a social setting.
Of special note: there are also many educational benefits that relate to activities for daily living.
Reduces stress, and helps muscle tone.
Mobility benefits (sometimes through reduction in discomfort from arthritic conditions) plus balance benefits and thus potential reduction in falls.
Moh designed and trademarked Physio-Chi, modifying the movements of traditional Tai Chi.
Jenny Lucy purchased Physio-Chi in 2020 and owns the trademarked form. Jenny has been a practitioner for over 30 years of three Tai Chi forms in addition to the Physio-Chi form.
My own personal story is that I have done Tai Chi for over 30 years, teaching the Chan Lee Style, the Modified Sun Style 40 form and the Sun Style 73 form. As a physiotherapist I have found the clinical application of Tai Chi to be a safe, effective rehabilitation method, along with the added benefits of relaxation and stress management.
In March 2019, following a full training, certification and endorsement process, I purchased Physio-Chi from Moh Tapper. I am very excited to take Moh’s dream forward and I believe strongly in Physio-Chi being the Rehabilitation Tai Chi, a valuable tool for all physiotherapists and occupational therapists in their clients rehabilitation from any disability, injury or disease process.
Every client requires a safe, effective, enjoyable way to pursue their goals of leading a healthy, active lifestyle. Physio-Chi is a method that addresses those goals, and being adaptable, it suits a wide range of client groups.
Since taking on Physio-Chi, I have already successfully conducted workshops for some Bethanie residential facilities staff in addition to refresher training workshops for individuals.
I have found Physio-Chi addresses all of the clinical goals usually adopted by diverse client groups. Physio-Chi is rehabilitation focused, is easily learned and people love it.
I have loved learning Physio-Chi and in becoming an Accredited Trainer and now the owner is very exciting. I intend to make Moh proud as the Founder of Physio-Chi, as Physio-Chi continues to grow.
